True. I never even knew such things existed until I came across them in my hotel room.

Perhaps not the best choice of words...

Yes, we will. If I remember correctly, the last time I climbed on a toilet seat in a hotel it had nothing to do with the topic of this thread. However, it was at the Sheraton Heathrow, and I broke it... oops. [Stefan, don't even think about trying to send me a bill at this point....]

On with the hunt!! Just returned from the Hyatt Lake Tahoe - nada.... and no broke toilet seats....

OK, I have to admit it, I made my first search last week at a Crowne Plaza in Houston. I had read this thread over the Christmas holidays and laughed my butt off about it.

So, when I was bored one evening in my hotel room, I started thinking "Gee, maybe those FTers aren't off base here... maybe there actually IS something behind those drawers."

Unfortunately, I poked my finger tip with a used syringe that was under the bed and when I went to the bathroom for a bandage I just couldn't resist standing on the toilet to check the ceiling tile, but I promptly fell off before I could even check. Maybe I was feeling lightheaded due to my finger injury... who knows? When I awoke from my fall (I hit my head) the hotel manager was standing over me, with a strange look on his face. I could only surmise that he was trying to figure out how I had managed to do all of this and STILL HAD NO PORN! He just shook his head and said, "It because of people like you that when we remodeled we went with the furniture that didn't have pieces of wood between the drawers so there would be no place to hide that crap."

OK, not really. But the part about the drawers was correct.

Update from the Sheraton Heathrow

Apparently they've put a special note in my profile -- I'm to be allocated room 1225, and it's to be scoured for porn before my arrival!

That's right, I'm writing to you from room 1225 at the Sheraton Heathrow, which I can certify is porn-free. Although I've left a little present for the next Flyertalker who occupies this room in the traditional hiding place. Don't worry, Stefan, it's totally clean and innocent. You wouldn't be embarrassed if your grandmother saw it, but it is in keeping with the spirit of the game.

Actually, Stefan came out to greet me personally this evening and we had a really nice chat. He also passed on some tips about the best locations for finding hidden porn (some of which are mentioned on this thread, others which aren't), but I've been sworn to secrecy.

Mind you, buy me a beer and I'll sing like a canary.

Just back from hawaii and...

...the princeville in kauai was abig flop...I had 2 different rooms and went 0 for 2 on any room finds. Continuing on week two at the sheraton in maui and was also dissapointed...but alas all was not lost...wife and I were sitting on the patio or lania if u prefer, and at about glass #3 of champers for some reason I was running my hand under the patio table and felt something kinda soft in a plastic baggie. Look under the table its about 1/2 oz. of pot in a baggie! Woo hoo! Now I'm thinking hmmm, no one leaves this behind so maybe its a gag, or not real. So I take it down to the pool and talk to one of the guys working at the towel station. he makes me a deal, give him some he'll try it out and let me know. Next day he says a-ok and wants to know my room # so he can find out who stayed there before us. Anyways as it turned out wifey and I never got a chance to prtake as we were leaving the next day so the pool guy got the spoils. So I am assuming just cuz its right outside the room it still counts. Right?

This is a complex legal question on which you are urged to seek qualified professional advice. The basic rule is that, if the patio/balcony/etc. is set aside for your room's use, and indicated as such as by a fence, hedge or railing, it still counts. (This includes balconies above the ground floor that can only by reached through your room or by potentially dangerous acrobatics.) If it's available to all hotel guests it doesn't count, even if it's adjacent to your room, reached most easily from your room and occupants of other rooms might feel awkward sitting there.

Please address further questions on this topic to the FlyerTalk Legal Clinic.

Oh no, not at all. Canada is very nice. Why I would even say it is much less scary than say London (especially near the Heathrow Hotel )

Kuala Lumpur dillema

I am about to check in to the Hilton in Kuala Lumpur for two nights. Since Malaysia is a Muslim country I wonder if I should even try going hunting? What do you think? If you think this can be good territory for such a hunt please read on.

My brother in law will be in the next room (reservation was done and paid by me)and I am looking for excuses to get them out of the room and "lines" to respond to them in case they catch me in the act

Maybe if I am caught with porn here they 'll whip me to death?

There weren't any drawers in the KL Hilton, at least in the standard "deluxe" guestroom. Can't really think of a place to hide such things at that hotel. There was a closet with shelves and whatnot, but no drawers. You'll love the bathroom, there. Very different, very chic, very fun.
