Hotel Help in BKK!!

I am traveling to Bangkok in September and I am wondering what hotel provides the best location to the action(entertainment, live jazz etc... not girls!!) with the best service. I had a quick stayed at the Novotel Siam Square a few years ago and really liked the area. The hotel was nice and I have nothing bad to say for it, big plus was the entertainment venue in the hotel CM2, just looking for something with a bit more luxury but close to the same area. Problem I am running into is location of the nicer hotels such as the Marriott or the Conrad are a ways off, so I am told.

Can someone recommend a hotel in the Siam Square area of Bangkok that is a step above the Novotel? Does it exist, if I do chose to stay at the Conrad or the Marriott how hard is it to get over to the Novotel, the Hard Rock or Pat-Pong (sp?) Any help would be greatly received!

Thank you!

Any of the big hotels on Sukhumvit road will be on the Sky train so you can easily get to Siam Square or any of the other main entertainment areas.

If you can get a good rate at the IC then that would be perfect. Right down the road from Siam Square, right on the skytrain so easy to get around.

However, to get to Siam Square from the Conrad is just 10 minutes or so. Plan on < 2 minutes for a tuk tuk or taxi or conrad shuttle to get you to the Skytrain stop and another 5-8 min for the Skytrain to drop you at Siam Square. It's really easy.
