airport map
Anyone know a location/map I can go to and see all the airports in a particular part of the country? For example, I am familar with the bay area and know that I can fly into SFO, OAK or SJC and they are all about 30 minutes from where I work. But, if I had not lived out there I probably wouldn't have known how close they really were.
thanks

Using "help" right here on FT you can search by city or state to find all airport codes, although not by region. http://flyertalk.com/acl/

Travelocity & ITA also have the ability to search nearby airports - you can try using those search functions too.
That said, this is more a TravelBuzz related question, so I will be moving this there.
Thanks!

Try this: Go to the Great Circle Mapper's page for an airport you know is in that part of the country - use the format http://gc.kls2.com/airport/XXX where XXX is the three-letter code. Use the feature on the left-hand side of the page, lower down, to find airports within specified minimum and maximum distances from the airport you started from.

You can use Google Earth to see airports as well as many other things... just go to:
http://earth.google.com/
Download the basic version and zoom into the part of Earth that you are interested in. In the layers option you can then get it to highlight either: airports, heliports, airport maps, international airports (non-US) or any combination of the above.
