Directions in Vienna
Hi,
My sister is in VIE for a couple of days next week, and was wondering if I could get some transport info. She arrives at VIE around 7pm on Sunday, and she'll be staying in the 2nd district, on Lessinggasse (I believe near TaborstraBe). What would the easiest way for her to get there from the airport? How much are taxis? Is it easy by public transport?
Thanks
goodo

Best ways to get to town from the airport are either the bus to Sdbahnhof or Westbahnhof - 6 euro.
There's also the bus to Schwedenplatz now - 6 euro as well.

Or use the fast train (schnellbahn) to Wien Mitte for 3 euro.
All of these will likely necessitate transferring via streetcar or subway - but there are maps everywhere and it should be easy to figure out.

Looking at http://www.vor.at/ the easiest public transport route appears to be:
Bus to Schwedenplatz (19.20 or 19.50)
Tram 21, direction Praterkai, to Heinestrasse/Taborstrasse
3 minute walk to Lessinggasse/Taborstrasse
Takes half an hour

if you instead take the normal S-Bahn which also leaves every 30 minutes (at 09 and 39) to Wien Nord (Praterstern) and get into the tram nr. 21 there (direction Schwedenplatz) it will only cost you the total sum of 3. so thats 4.5 less for maybe a longer ride of 10 minutes.
