Question regarding AF 70

Hi everyone. Going to French Polynesia 10 November from LAX and wondering if there is any plan afoot to change out the old 747's or upgrade the old ones to have the individual video monitors. Anybody have the scoop? Thanks, Beauty

you should have asked on the AF board

AFAIK AF does not plan to replace the old 747 for PPT service. I don't have any info on changing to new travel concept (2 class service instead of 3 class service) so there are no improvements to expect at the moment.

Sorry about that re using the air france board.......thought that was only for frequent flyer miles talk. As you can see, am new here. Thanks for the info though. Bummer that there are no improvements in the works as that is really a jaunt for those embarking in Paris and the individual video set-up certainly helps time go by.

on the other hand, your flight is leaving round midnight. what about a little nap to be in good shape when arriving in paradise... and so ... no need for the IFE.

here's a trip report on AF70 written by a crew member

Thanks for the info, really appreciate you. Love reading about Tahiti in the link that you sent to me.
Flew AF in March/April of this year and we were so pleased with our flight. The service was super in Econ (flying on vouchers gained by volunteering in Paris last summer ) and for sure beyond anything we've experienced on our 3 flights to FP on ATN. So, we will fly AF without the individual monitors and be happy. Thought I'd heard/read that AF was going to upgrade the aircraft on the CDG/PPT route but guess I was wrong. And, of course, we will have a bit of a sleep since we are departing at midnoc!! Thanks and as they say in FP [U]Mauruuru, Beauty
