That's true, but that wasn't the question.

"What is the shortest scheduled flight on a jet aircraft you have ever taken ?"

I know you specified jet flight, but I have to brag anyway. We took the world's shortest scheduled flight (2 minutes) about a week ago, but it was a propellor aircraft. Details here.

I took that flight, too, as part of a trip to Cornell I made in 1984. Scheduled time was 15 minutes, but actual flying time, as announced by the pilot, was 8 minutes. Seemed we barely cleared the treetops.

Erm, might I ask what your definition of a "real jet" is then if the CRJ doesn't fit that description to you, because the CRJ is jet-powered, of course, which appears to be the only criteria for the question...

My personal shortest jet flight was DEN-COS on a UAX/Air Wisconsin Bae-146...73 miles as the crow flies...

DL used to have an SLC-SJC-OAK flight.

That last leg was quick

I believe Saab's engines say something like "GE jet engine" on the side. Is that considered a jet?

But 30 years ago DL ran TOL-DTW which you could use to connect; took that one a couple of times. Thirteen minutes flying time if I recall correctly.

Shortest jet flight I've been on is KOA-OGG in 2003 and 2002, once on AQ on a 73S and once on HA on a 717, 84 miles. Honorable mention to:

HNL-OGG: HA 717 101mi 2002
HNL-LIH: AQ 73S 102mi 2003
PHL-HPN: US CRJ 115mi 1999

Sjc-sfo; Bur-ont; Lgb-sna

I used to routinely fly BUR-ONT -- Burbank was an intermediate stop on Alaska Airlines flights between SEA-ONT. They were usually operated by MD-80. I do remember that they used to say they were able to "skip" the safety announcement because nobody new ever boarded at BUR going southbound.

Shortly after American Airlines purchased Air California, there was an AirCal scheduled flight on a 733 going SNA-LGB-SFO. That was a wacky one.

And, finally, up until I believe 1988 or 1989, when I was in college in the Bay Area, I flew several times on a D8S (DC-8 Super Overwater, as United called them) from SJC-SFO on United. It was on its way to ORD...

Continental was flying a 737 on an EWR-SNA-LAX routing for a while, then briefly on an SNA-LAX-CLE routing.

I think I'm showing my age

I seem to recall the airports that have now closed

Many many years ago
Wilmington DE to Phildalephia PA on a turbo prop (the only pax)

More recently (though ancient compared with most of your flying) many trips on Gulf Air BAH->DHA 27 miles as I recall in a 737.

A bit further since DMM opened. An airport I never had the pleasure of visiting.
