A friend of mine just found out upon arrival in Rome last night that although he had a long standing reservation for the next 5 days, his hotel room had been given away for an official delegation
, and this in a 5* hotel.
If anybody is travelling to Rome during the next three weeks, please make sure to call the hotel directly to confirm, otherwise you might well have to sleep under the stars.
Thank God (no pun intended), we have friends in Rome who are able to accomodate him.

Thanks for the warning. I was wondering how they were going to suddenly accomodate all of the people surging into Rome. How silly of me to think that a "confirmed" hotel reservation implied any obligation on the part of the hotel!
Glad to hear your friend was able to stay with someone.
