Has anyone ever seen maps of large regions (such as Europe) that display all of the major airports by their airport codes? Maybe some airline's route map does not substitute the city name for the airport code? I would find such a map helpful when searching for airfares from alternate airports (so as to avoid that second page that pops up on Travelocity when I just enter a city name).

If you're willing to learn some new software then take a look at DAFIF. It provides aerodrome information for (I believe) every airport and heliport on the planet, including airport codes and a bunch of other stuff that would interest enthusiasts. It's provided by the military so it's accurate (and unclassified) but of course not the easiest thing to navigate... there are some decent free viewers out there. If you have the time and the inclination then it's an invaluable source.

This site is pretty simple...never used it for anything but domestic but it list other countries...just click on where you want to go it will show you a list-of the airports or you could do it by code, region, etc...also shows you the airlines there...
hope that helps.
