Speed

Sorry, not what you thought...

In Oregon, it seems to be the only place where the signs say, i.e.,

SPEED
65

as opposed to every other state, where it will say "SPEED LIMIT", with the posted limit.

Is there any legal significance to the Oregon way of doing things? Is there another state that does the same thing? I always find the OR signs to look odd, still.

At a Maryland highway rest stop there is a sign that says "0.10 - It's The Law." But I couldn't get that drunk no matter how much I tried.

In (parts of?) California, the signs say "maximum speed" instead of "speed limit".

Hawaii's the only state I can think of where I've seen minimum speed XX signs on the freeways.

I do recall seeing those awhile back. But even those explain "maximum" (and I do recall the "minimum" in HI) - not just "speed".

I've seen "minimum speed" signs in a bunch of states. Never seen signs that just say "speed xx" however.

I like the signs that say "Speed Zone Ahead" (meaning the opposite).
