Three hours to kill at DXB

Don't flame me, the search function is not working!!!

I'm transiting between Doha and Istanbul, don't need any more electronic devices (which I understand are not cheap there anyway), and don't care for gold jewelry. This will be my first trip to the Gulf and I'm interested in soaking up atmosphere, ridiculous as that sounds when talking about an airport. If the "atmosphere" at DXB consists of people frantically shopping, then I guess I can go watch that happen, but I'd rather get a good meal if there's one to be had.

Thanks for any suggestions!

The atmosphere in the Irish Pub isn't bad, but it's just not very local. A lot of very varied travellers waft through DXB especially in the middle of the night - it can make for an interesting couple of hours' conversation.

Been to DXB many times but never in transit so usually just end up in the lounge.

www.dubaiairport.com lists the restaurants and things to do.

Dining
Passengers have the option of 25 food and drink outlets within the new Concourse. From fast food to speciality cuisine to an Irish pub, passengers are spoilt for choice. The Food Court is located on the Departures Level between Gates 13 and 15. Restaurants such McDonalds, Round Table Pizza, Le Matin Francais, Bistro (Lebanese), Jashan (Indian) and Tansu Kitchen (Chinese and Mongolian barbeque) can be found in the food court.

The Irish Village: which serves typical Irish fare is located next to Gate 23.

Safar: The main restaurant in the Sheikh Rashid Terminal, Safar is divided into three sections- the bar, called Pint 19, the Buffet area and the a la carte restaurant with an open kitchen offering international cuisine.

Cafes: Starbucks the international coffee house chain is situated near Gate1.

I fly through on 1 March, and will be there around lunchtime. Based on the restaurants that beergut lists it looks like I will be going for the Lebanese option. If there's one thing I don't need it's more faux Irish pubs! Of course I could just hang out in the EK lounge, but I'm going to be seeing an awful lot of airline lounges on this trip.
