CLT or ATL
If you had your choice, which we do on a trip to Colorado, which airport would you prefer to travel through? And why -

This is a decision faced by many, many travellers, but it pretty much boils down to: Delta or US Airways. It doesn't really make that much of a difference of airports. ATL can be busy and filled with people, but nothing too crowded. CLT is smaller but still has all the services you might want. Your choice, really.

The only realistic choice I have for most of my air travel is between Delta and USAirways. I go out of my way to fly Delta in preference to USAirways. But that's not because of the hub airport, it's because of the other advantages Delta has over USAirways. So even though I stick with Delta, if the only issue were the airport, I'd agree with the other posters here that CLT is better.
It'd/it'll be a shame for such a nice airport to sit largely idle if/when USAirways folds.

US Air FC is cheaper than Delta, at this point, and they seem to be trying hard to provide service. We will see - we don't have a lot of choices out of the Cayman Islands at this point and try very hard to avoid AA and Miami!

As someone who has used both CLT and ATL as a home airport, I strongly favor CLT for ease of use. Although, if originating there, beware of the tendency for parking facilities to fill up. And fares used to be sky-high because of US's dominance. For passing through, CLT gets the vote because it is more compact, less crowded and brighter. The rocking chairs are nice, also a piano if you're inclined to play.
