Which is what acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami did when he was first denied visa to travel to New York, where his film Ten was playing at the New York Film Festival, then told he'd have to wait three months for a background check since he was an Iranian national. In support Finnish filmmaker Aki Kaurismaki also declined to travel to America and I don't believe either has done so since. It is well known that middle Eastern artist(e)s and intellectuals have been closed out of the US because of America's "discriminatory policies" that are not as transparent as for instance, Arab nations' towards western Jews. Sad and unfortunate for the entire world .
