PDAs

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What PDA would you recommend for traveling:
I would need the PDA to be able to acces google-email-and other sites.
It would have to be under 250$
So what woukld you recommend?

I would recommend not bothering if you are thinking of surfing the web and checking email. More econmical and efficent if you just look for a Internet Cafe. I have found them everwhere. You are unlikely to get a PDA for under $250 with WiFi built in. WiFi isn't ubiquitous, expensive when not free, and frustratingly slow to use on a PDA because of the slower inputing and all the scrolling involved with screens.

I have a Sony TH55 and used it in the free WiFi and used it in Vienna in the museum quarter and it was tolerable for a lazing Sunday.

Seriously how slow?
How long does it take to open a web page?

777heavy, your question might be better answered in the Travel Technology forum.

My PDA has a 128MHz chip so part of the slowness is rendering a web page. And then the awkwardness of input. I would say it's about 2-3 times a good dialup speed. Again though for your price range I don't think there's Wifi available. The old Sony Clie SJ 33 would come close if you can find them, they were discontinued when Sony pulled out of the PDA market outside of Japan.
