Baggage Questions, and General Curiousity
Alright,
I'll admit I am young and its been quite some time since my last flight. In fact I haven't flown in roughly eight years. I'm personally not afraid of flying or do I get air sickness, however I'm curious what I should and shouldn't pack.. and where it should be placed.
I'm straight out of school and now working for a company that requires me to travel, I'm flying out tomorrow on a six hour flight to Knoxville, TN. When I arrive in Knoxville its a hour drive to Gatlinburg where I will be for the duration of this project. My question is, can I pack alcohol in my carry-on luggage?
Gatlinburg does not serve alcohol due to it being a 'dry county' from what I've been told and I take no chances! I'm only looking to pack a liter of spiced rum. I've search AA.com and the TSA's website for information regarding items allowed and prohibited however I can't find anything on alcoholic beverages.
Also, any recommendations on what I should and shouldn't do prior to travel, shoes I should wear etc etc.. Remember its been quite a while.. I was thinking bermuda shorts, button up shirt and slippers. However my belt has metal, which was discouraged against me wearing, but what else?
Appreciate any suggestions, I have till tomorrow morning to prepare for this

No problem with booze in the carryon, I do it all the time.
Do bring sealed bottles; less likely to leak all over your clothes in case of accident. You don't want your new colleages to notice your, ah, cologne.
Also, don't try to drink it on the plane. Most, if not all, airlines forbid you to drink alcohol not served by a flight attendant. It isn't always enforced, but why risk them taking it away from you?

Kitty,
Thanks! Yeah I definately dont want to even imagine a week without relaxation *cough* a drink * cough *
I just wanted to make sure I could pack a bottle in my carry-on that away it doesn't get busted in my checked bag, but I also want to make sure I dont get to the airport and be embarrased by having alcohol in my bag when its illegal or prohibited.
Any other suggestions on things I should and shouldn't do, tactics on quicker times etc would be wonderful.
I'm flying American to DFW then to KNX, two hour delay in dallas, so I'll probably grab a bite to eat.. anything nice there?

Bags do get thrown around, so make sure any bottles in your luggage are protected (put it in the middle of clothes and wrap with a towel).
Minor note -- the airport code for Knoxville, TN is TYS (Tyson Field).

Wear slip-on shoes like loafers so you don't waste time with untying and tying shoes. Wear socks so you won't have to walk barefoot through security. Bring either earplugs or a portable CD player so you won't be bothered by a loud person whether an infant or adult. Make sure you bring a spare set of batteries.
