Plugs?
simple question i'm sure but one that has me currently beaten (no pun intended). what kind of plugs (power supply, etc) are used in Sri Lanka and Malaysia?
i'm straying away from my usual destinations this week and need to check adapters.
many thanks!

There is a comprehensive guide to "what country uses what plugs" on this web site:

Seachain:
Malaysia uses exactly the same type of 13 amp plug as in the UK (surprised me too).
Sri Lanka uses the old round-pin style that was superceded in Britain about 50 years ago by the standard described above, and which you very occasionally still find in UK buildings which have not been rewired. Adapters for these are harder to get, but if you're going to get them anywhere the UK is the place to do so.

It looks like you can probably order a Sri Lanka plug online at

You may want to double-check on the web site I mentioned, but it looks like it's the one described as "Middle Eastern" (type D on the other web site)

Why can't the world be like china, where their sockets could accept just about any plug used anyplace on the planet, round, spade, the UK ones, etc.
I believe that Sri Lanka uses the same plug in India, radio shack sells an adapter for that for under $5, their part number 980-0447. May save you some shipping.
Malasia uses the same as in the UK, another $4.99 at the shack, or you may be able to get a universal set of five or six that will include both for $10 or so.
