Quality of First Class ...

I have a chance to fly to Santiago on either AA, CO, or LanChile in First Class. Has anyone flown to the southern hemisphere on any of these, and how is the quality of First Class on these. Our final destination is Mendoza, Argentina. Almost 29 hours away. Sleeper seats are a must for me (6'4" and then spending 2.5 weeks on a mountain), but I sort of doubt AA or CO has equipment with that sort of arrangement. Any tips?

Both AA and DL fly to Santiago. CO only uses the DL codeshare. Both airlines fly the 767-300. DL has BE service. AA service is a comfortable Biz class seat also. I haven't flown Lan in F just Y and I believe they are the best airline based in SA. DL BE is OK not as comfortable as CO. I'd probably choose DL simply because I'd know what I was getting. Personal Screen, OK food, and a somewhat comfortable seat.

For the same mileage cashout (200k) I get 2 F tickets on LanChile.

Lan, hands down. But you'll never score 2 F award seats. If you do, I don't know what kind of awardgods are looking down on you. (The cabin is 1 row - 5 across). Service varies from very good to among the world's best, depending on the crew. I have flown LAX/SCL 4 times on LA in F.

A total of 5 seats in F ? Are they sleeps or what? Their website is rather anemic.

Hi Wop and welcome to FlyerTalk.

The MilesBuzz forum is for posting information related to the lastest "frequent flyer program Buzz".

This doesn't really appear to have anything to do with that, so I'm going to move it to the TravelBuzz forum for you.

Regards,

It is a single row of sleeper seats (180 degree recline, but not quite as comfy as the AA FS which is less bumpy). Config is 2-1-2. LAN only has a few planes with an F cabin (the 343s do but not the 763s). LAN food/wine in F is very good, but AA also has superb J service JFK-EZE (maybe their best J route, though the food is better northbound).

I've heard many a rave for LAN's First Class service.

So it sounds as though AA might be a decent alternative if the Lan award does not work out. Only problem is it is 50k more in redemption for the AA FC vs Lan FC.

Anyone have thoughts on CO First Class service that far south?
