Are you a super light packer?
Travel writer is developing a story for a major national woman's magazine on super-light packers. Do your friends and colleagues always ask in amazement "Is THAT all you brought?!" even on long trips? I'd like to find women who are willing to reveal what's in their suitcase and how they go about choosing the most wrinkle-free, easy-to-coordinate, stain-resistant; and lightweight items; which items do double duty; and also perhaps discuss their favorite suitcases. And any other light and trouble-free packing tips they have. I'm looking to interview frequent travelers, preferably people in the travel profession (travel PR, travel agents, cruise directors, airline or cruise company execs)--but anyone will do if you amaze your friends and co-workers by carrying a teeny suitcase but still manage to look fabulous when you travel. This could be for business or for leisure.
Thanks!

FYI: Carrying a teeny suitcase while still managing to look fabulous when travelling is a contradiction in terms.
Still, even though my friends and colleagues do not ask in amazement, "is THAT all you brought?!", I've heard it from several U.S. Customs agents.
Just le je ne sais quoi, I guess.

I'm male and rarely look fabulous, but I've traveled about 2 million miles with only a shoulder bag. One key component has been a very tiny Sony laptop. Another trick is to bring old clothes you are tired of and throw them out when you head to a country with a different climate and buy new clothes. Example, bring old but warm clothes to Scandinavia and leave them for the hotel maid before you fly down to the Middle East. Buy light clothes upon arrival. I've been to over 80 countries and they sell clothes in every one of them.

The article is for a women's magazine. Plus, women tend to have a lot more concern about wearing the same thing twice where the same person might see them. Also, women have more undergarment and cosmetic requirements than men.

I sometimes bring torn clothes and underwear and beat up shoes and throw them away. The lightest that I've ever travelled is just a briefcase on a DCA-LGA flight, which is about what half of the other passengers were also carrying.
