Mail order items shipped to hotels?
I'm planning to have some mail order items shipped to a hotel in the US where I'll stay for 9 days. I want to take advantage of this because shipping charges will be cheaper than having items sent to Japan, and I won't have to pay for the customs (only clothes/bags will be ordered).
Provided I contact in advance the mail order company that they ship to hotels and that I calculate correctly for the items to arrive prior or at the beginning of my stay, things should go well... in theory.
Did anyone have any problems so far? Thanks for sharing your experience.

Just inform the front desk, who will notify the person at receiving, most receiving staff will have signing authority for the major carriers as well...

I had airline tickets delivered by courier to a hotel while staying in NYC, and it was fine, with one minor glitch. The labels printed on the package only had a limited number of characters. In this case, the full address of the hotel overran the label, and it took a couple of attempts (and manual writing over the top) to deliver the package.

Yes no problems there. I do this all the time on biz trips. Just make sure, of course, that the vendor does in fact send your items on time with no delays. But the hotel can always forward your items to you with cost should you depart before your package arrives.

There may be problems. Many companies are verifying the shipping address against the credit card address and not shipping to any other address. It's certainly not the majority of companies, but I recently ordered something and they refuste to ship it to any other address then the billing address on the card.
You will probably be fine, but double check with them before ordering.
