Hotels in IST

I am visiting IST in early August for a couple of days and am looking for a place to stay. I did a quick search on the search engines for hotes.

My choices are:
  • stay at Hilton property using HH points (I understand there is no *wood property
  • stay at cheap (approx $50 per night) more local smaller hotel

Can anyone recommend which option is best, and also if they can recommend any hotels fitting the criteria of the second option (and a good/central location).

Thanks

For the second category I'd suggest Empress Zoe. Do a search for more, this has been discussed before...

Empress Zoe is great but may be a little out of your budget. Book well in advance!

The Conrad is not a bad hotel with a fantastic terrace at the top of the hotel for the Exec floor. However the service is very variable and the location is rubbish for sightseeing. There is Hilton much closer to Sultanahmet, but I've never stayed there.

Look under Europe

There are many smaller hotels in Taksim or Beyelou (sp?) that might fit the bill. Sultaneahmet is on the other side of the bridge.

We are going in June and staying at the Four Seasons - can't give you any input on this hotel except that it has gotten good reviews and is well located.
