Question Emirates from SFO??

I just read that Emirates will be offering service from SFO later this year. Anyone know when it will begin and what destinations will be offered? And more importantly....ANY SPECIAL FARES??

As far as I know, they are just "contemplating" expanding the network inside the US but no set date yet. I just know that we won't get many special deals except for a few promotion fares at the beginning. Just look forward to the brand new F-Suite with real privacy, the best in the world in my opinion.

Sorry I could not help more.

I beleive Jan 2005 is the begin date for this service. July 1, 2004 is when they begin service to JFK.

The route from San Francisco to Dubai (connecting there to other Emirates destinations) was previously planned to start in Summer 2003 and appeared in the Emirates schedules (and we discussed it on FT). It was to be one of the earliest A340-500 routes. It would route directly overhead the North Pole. It didn't go ahead at the time because of difficulties Emirates had getting approval from the US authorities.

Nothing in the EK schedules for this year yet.

Just to satisfy my curiousity, how long would this flight be time wise?

DXB-SFO 8103 miles. Just slightly longer than EWR-HKG. Expect about 15.5 hours flight time.
