Bumping Question

A newbie question here: (please be gentle...)

I have a trip shcedule for March 12 (a Friday), SFO-MIA. THe plane leaves at 1pm, and here's the seat availability as of today:

F7 A7 Y7 B7 H7 K7 Q7 M7 G0 V0 O0 L0 W0 S0

So, my question is: what are the odds of me getting bumped? What would be the best approach? Should I volunteer? When? I don't really have to be in MIA until the next day, so waiting for hours wouldn't be a problem....

Ideas?

Right now, very little chance.

On flights with Y0 that are overbooked, I've usually had 50-50 odds if an announcement is made.

The best time seems to be when flights are overbooked all-day long, because there is spill-over from other flights. For example, a snowstorm the previous day which delays everyone.

I say virtually nothing. They will take the people with status and move them up front and use their seats first.

If there are flights on the same route before yours, they may take some standby's for it too.

Don't give up, March 12 is still down the road.

You should always volunteer no matter what the chances if you want to be bumped. And try not to check bags.

Nonami, where are you able to find the information about availability on a specific flight ? Is this something that a casual traveler can lookup on the web ?

Thanks,
Alan
