Best time to purchase Jun travel from DTW to CUN?
Hello, my friends and I are booking a 1 week trip to CUN from DTW in late June. I've heard conflicting things about it being low season at that time and about airlines not dropping their prices below $400 to fly out there. Would it be less expensive in a month or two? Thanks!

It's really hard to speculate as to when might be the best time to buy airline tickets for any destination. You can currently get a DTW-CUN reservation (with a FLL connection) on Spirit Airlines for many days in June 2004 for $235.00 + taxes (approximately $322 with taxes included). A pretty good deal in my mind. If that doesn't whet your whistle, try a vacation specialist like Funjet.

Thanks for the reply! Is that $235 price a special? When I punch Jun travel into SpiritAir's homepage, it comes up with about $200 per leg...</font>

Thanks! That $215 is an amazing deal. Funniest thing; when clicking on departure dates in June, every date refreshes the page and says that the fare is "unavailable". This is true for the $215, $265, and $365 fares, and also true leaving from ORD. I guess either I'm buying too early or too late...
We're planning to rent a villa in Cancun / Mayan Riviera...there are a bunch that house 10 persons @ $2,000 for the week. If you're interested in villas at all, I have a good article from Fortune magazine 2002 that I'd be glad to send you.
