Hotel in Geneva
My husband and I are arriving by air in Geneva on a Monday night, and plan to take a train to Zermatt in the morning. Any recomendations on a hotel for one night convenient to the airport and train station? I believe we will be arriving at Cion-tren airport on Lufthansa from Frankfurt.

Welcome to Flyertalk Terradec!
If you have no interest in visiting Geneva, it would be best to stay at an airport hotel, for the following reasons:
- trains to Visp, where you will connect to the train for Zermatt, actually leave from the airport train station (at :09 past the hour, every hour, final destination Brig), not the main city station. Pick a good seat on the right side of the train for the best views
- hotels at the airport have a much better price/quality ratio than the dismal tourist traps by the main station
- the area by the main station has become quite unpleasant at night; Geneva at night in winter is forgettable
- all the airport hotels run free shuttles to the airport
- the airport train station is directly connected to the airport - 3 minutes walk
In order of decreasing price/luxury, the airport hotels are:
- Mvenpick
- Crowne Plaza
- NH (a bit further than the others)
- Holiday Inn Express
- Ibis
The last two are quite basic, while the Crowne Plaza and especially the Mvenpick are full-service 'real' hotels.
BTW, the airport is named 'Cointrin'

No interest in visiting Geneva? Quel horreur!
I'd suggest Hotel Cornavin, right next to the central train station of the same name -- location is excellent, it was renovated fairly recently and, above all, Tintin stayed there too.

Thanks for the great info about the hotels around the airport. My husband couldn't believe anyone would be so helpful, even provide the weblinks to the hotels (which we used!) However, I already knew what a great community flyer talk is!
