I plan to drive to Quebec in summer time. On way to Quebec, I plan to stay somewhere for a week. Since I joined travel club, they offer another one week rental cheap.Any suggestion ? I want the place closed to city life and scenic sites and not so out of my way to Quebec. How about Lake placid ? Thanks.
Lake Placid is easily drivable in one day from the Philadelphia area...you can probably drive it in 7-8 hours or so...however Lake Placid is about 25-30 miles off of I-87...It's a pretty neat little town though, I'd highly recommend it...

A week at Lake Placid in the summer? Unless you're doing a lot of hiking, you'll be bored out of your mind. It is definitely not close to city-life.
Does the whole week must be in one place? Have you been to Boston? Stay there, and you can do cultural stuff, and go to the N. Shore, Cape Cod, Newport (Rhode Island), etc during that week. It's a mild detour to Quebec City (I assume that's where you're going, not Montreal of other parts of Quebec), but the drive up through New Hampshire and/or Maine is also very scenic.

I went to Boston and Newport,etc last year.I have mother and dad and my son. My parents like the city life. The travel club is 7 days for condo ental. So I plan to stay one place for seven days and stay in other place for seven days.

You can stop around Burlington, Vermont, on the eastern side of Lake Champlain. Six or seven hours from Philadelphia, an hour south of the Quebec border. Great little city, lots of good restaurants, fine daytrips to the rural center of Vermont.

Or perhaps the Manchester area in southwestern Vermont, about an hour to an hour and a half to the northeast of Albany. Wonderful restaurants, charming inns, good antiquing and beautiful sights (no billboards in Vermont!). Another thought: Saratoga when the ponies are running (although I don't know about staying there for a whole week).
Keep in mind that many of these areas, such as the Berkshires, book up early for the summer months. It definitely is not too early to book now.
