Boracay vs Perhetnian

I am looking for people who have gone to both of these places. I am trying to decide which one to go to and would like to know what you think are the good points of one versus the other. I would also like to know if you have any hotel recommendations at either.

When are you going? Boracay rainy season is July through October/mid-November. Perhentian rainy season is November through January. The boat crossing to either of these islands can be disrupted if the rain and wind is too strong.

There are no hotels at all on Perhentians, just motley collections of huts (or 'chalets' in the local parlance, but don't expect Swiss alpine meadows ). The "Perhentian Island Resort" on P. Besar is the only even slightly bigger operation in the area, and by Malaysian standards it's quite overpriced.

If you want more creature comforts (and better diving), I'd suggesting neighboring Pulau Redang instead.
