For an anniversary dinner, what restaurant would you recommend in South Lake Tahoe. $20-$40 p/p (before alcohol etc.)

The Chart House in South Lake Tahoe is nice. It is not right in town, so you will need transportation. It is a mile or so up the Kingsbury Grade off of Hwy 50. We always eat there on our trips to Tahoe. It has a nice view, although last time there last New Years it was snowing pretty hard so you couldn't see the lake, but we were one of only about three couples there because you needed 4WD to get there. Prices are moderate, food good. Enjoy.

We ended up at Evans. An absolutely superb meal. Highly recommended indeed. There were two specials the night we were there, a salmon and a New Zealand sea bass. Both were incredible.

Try Cafe Fiore just off Ski Run Blvd. It's very small, so be sure to have a reservation. It was recommended to us by one of the casino hosts at Caesar's.

He also recommended a French restaurant on Kingsbury called Mirabella. We haven't tried it, but it's in the Tahoe/Reno Entertainment book (or at least it was last year), and if it's there again, I think we will give it a shot.
I should say that Cafe Fiore is not a truly "top" restaurant, i.e., it is nowhere near the caliber of a place like Aqua, but we've had so much trouble finding a good restaurant in South Tahoe, we were pleased to find a place where we could have a very good meal with excellent service.
We were not impressed with Llewellyn's, and it's been a long time since we've been to the Summit, where they were very snooty.
Unfortunately, Caesar's hasn't been able to come up with a really good restaurant for a long time. They keep trying, though.
