Seeking to avoid overpriced internet Virgin...

I have a friend travelling O/W Paris - Rome to fit with an open jaw ticket. This morning I bought a Virgin Express ticket BRU - FCO online for travel on 11/24. By the time the train from Paris to BRU is included it comes to about 100 euros. Unfortunately, I just found a more direct route with Volare Airlines from ORY to FCO for 69 euros, including all taxes. It's cheaper and more to the point, a lot less hassle.

The ticket is the usual restricted online kind - a "Virgin Value 1" Fare. It says cancellations "not permitted" in the terms and conditions. However, I know some airlines (e.g. UA) let you cancel an online purchase if you find a better fare within 24 hours. Any one know if this is possible with Virgin Express, or have any other tips for how I can get out of this?

[I would have posted to the Virgin page, but there seems to be little activity there and time is of the essence.]

Many thanks for any help you can offer.

[Edited to add fare details.]
