Security / checking ID....

Travelled on Delta Song last week. I checkin online & print my own boarding pass. Was specifically told by the gate attendance that they do not check ID either at the boarding gate. The only time anyone looked at my ID was through security check, but she wasn't paying much attention to my boarding pass either.

Just a Delta thing? Isn't this more relaxed than pre-911?

It's true at a lot of airports. They check your ID at security at PIT (once) and that's it, whether you do online check-in or not. That's how it should be.

The TSA site has a listing of which airports they are checking ID's at the security area for, at those you do not have to show again at the gate.

Hey, dont knock it. Itsa changes like this that really upset the young, male, middle-easterners, toting Saudi Arabian passports thus its really help the fine TSA army keep our airplanes safe and our shoes germ free from constant xraying.

It's the TSA's plan to eventually switch all airports to the check-ID-once-at-security plan.

International departures may still be handled differently, although airlines might be checking passports for boarding passengers for their own protection to make sure that they don't violate destination countries' immigration laws by transporting passengers improperly.

Flew from FLL today and they still check the IDs, both at TSA and the gate. Also, had to take off my Reeboks at the TSA checkpoint.

The TSA shouldn't be checking IDs at all. It should be up to the airlines, if they care to for revenue protection.
