Using system wide upgrades

Hi, what an informative board this is. It has been frequently recommended to me by some of the diehards, and I'm glad I finally came over! My question is -- how hard is it to use SWU connection coupons? Are they worth anything? I am holding several on USAir, and all expire in a few weeks. In an attempt to use them, I reserved some coach class seats to L-Gatwick, but USAir tells me "no business class seats are available at this time." Does that mean they are sold out or just "blocked"? USAir has put me on the wait list, and will try to upgrade me three days prior to departure on each direction. (I am Gold Pref w/them.) Right now, all they can give me are coach-class mid-aisle seats which my husband (6'2") mortally hates. How often do these coupons generate business class seats? Are there any tips you can share for using these coupons? If I drag the dh to London in mid-aisle coach seats, he may kill me, so I'm weighing the risk. Thanks in advance to you all.

Welcome to FT

You will find a mass of information here, handily grouped into relevant forums. I.e. if you have a United or US Airways question, it is ideally answered in those forums.

Enjoy FT !
