Extreme Ironing on Concorde

It is possible that my place in history is now set, as the person who has ironed a shirt at the fastest speed and highest altitude :-)

Thank you, Randy!!

It all went smoothly. I was a bit concerned about getting the (all-plastic) travel iron / steamer through security, but had no problem. I'm not certain what would have happened with a metal iron.

When we reached Mach 2 I told a busy FA what I was intending to do and she didn't object. I was extremely fortunate to receive assistance from my seatmate Ken who was not shy and was a skilled photographer. None of the pax said anything, although a few laughed...the flight featured a lot of people taking pix on the ground and in the air.

The "ironing board" was a book about the Concorde, which the pilots on both legs autographed. One of the FAs showed me her photo in the book, taken 17 years earlier.

On the return a week later we had much the same set of FAs, and the one I had spoken to remembered me and the stunt.

It was a lot of fun, and I really appreciate Randy's making it possible.

This joins the list of the strangest sites I've ever seen.

The iron wasn't actually on, was it?

I saw a programme on extreme ironing that featured the Extreme Ironing World Championships where a guy went down the river on a surfboard whilst ironing. And like ice skating judges were there to give points for technique, style and quality of the finished ironed product

It's British humor, I believe.
