Why do airlines continue to lie?

All they have to do is tell the truth and people might cut them some slack. Instead, they lie, and everyone gets pissed off.

See link for classic example - AA refuses to allow passengers to deplane during a 3-hour delay and blames the TSA. As if the TSA had a policy against deplaning.

Maybe it's like deicing fluid. After TSA screening, you're only sterile for 30 minutes. After that, you might start to think of new and different hijacking ideas.
