The shoe insanity could be coming to an end. Cnn.com had an article saying the TSA is "clarifying" shoe removal policies. People are not required to take shoes off, just recommended.

Of course I laugh at the complainers, they sound like a gaggle of geese when they get going. The same argument delivered in the same squeeky voice. Of course the complainers are very scarce despite what you might believe. Their antics do provide some relief to a boring day. As for you being glad to be south of the equator, I am glad you are there to, but hurry back, you might be able to give me a laugh sometime.

TSA Provides Shoe Screening Guidance
Jul 11, 2003 08:10 PM (EST)

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) said it now will be optional for passengers to remove their shoes before going through airport metal detectors.

“Our screeners have always worked hard to make sure a ‘shoe bomb’ does not get on an aircraft,” TSA Administrator James Loy said. “Now we must make sure our security process is consistent so air travelers know what to expect at every airport in the country.”

Although Loy said removing shoes will be optional for passengers, travelers “should understand that their chances of being selected for a more thorough, secondary screening will be lower if they do.”
