Electronics in the air.....

LA Times article, which basically outline that cell phone usage is regulated by FCC (and left to airlines to enforce) whereas other electronics regulation is very vague:

I was on an Alitalia flight for the first time ever and they wouldn't let me use the MP3 player. They even questioned the noise-reduction headsets. They told me only "non-digital, non-spinning" electronic devices.

On my most recent AZ flight they asked me what the little black box is attached to my quietcomforts. They were a bit suspicious. Dare I get away with using 'illegal' digital music devices!

Iberia prohibits the use of all electronic devices in flight. That's right - you can't use any electronics. Of course, their lousy service is reason enough to avoid them; but the inability to use a walkman or DVD player is over the top.

Did they ask you to take the battery out of your watch? And that's both digital andspinning

No, they didn't make me take the battery out of my watch! Service on Iberia is so bad that I won't fly them again unless it is the last possible choice.
