Saving $200+ on one-way car rental
VA-->PA 16 days one-way Hertz lowest at $632
shopped & found:
VA-->VA 7 days airport Budget / travelocity.com
VA-->PA 9 days off-airport Hertz / phone
total = $432
Thanks for advice thus far. Any more to get even lower price appreciated. Regards.

Priceline. Sometimes you can get incredible savings on rentals. Sometimes not, but when you do it's great. Recently had one for $14 a day in Ohio, and have had $17 a day in DC. Way less then taking the bus from the airport.

Priceline might be able to shave a couple of bucks off of that Budget rental. Also, whenever I've done one-way rentals I've tried to make them as short as possible. In the example above (if it is feasible), you might save even more by doing three rentals: "normal" weekly rental in VA, 1- or 2-day VA-PA rental, "normal" weekly rental in PA. Even if your one-way rate is at a "normal" rate with a fixed drop charge, you usually can't tie in the best discount codes to a one-way rental. Maybe save another $80-$100 with Priceline involved.

Correct, should have mentioned that. I would do a round trip rental for as long as I could and then do a one way for the last part like you sugestted. Can't do a one way all the way with priceline.
