United Changed My Flights!!

Hi all,
I booked a CDG-SFO with United on its direct flight some weeks ago. Now, I have been notified that I have been re-routed to CDG-IAD-SFO. So instead of arriving in SF at 2pm, I will be arriving at 8pm. Is there anything I can do to have United compensate me for this? If they can't put me on the direct flight CDG-SFO (which I think they axed), can they at least upgrade me???

Thanks for your help!

Everybody on the plane will be asking for the same thing, so I wouldn't expect it to happen.

Lots of people are getting flights changed on all airlines now, and very few, if any, are getting free upgrades for it.

If you're not happy with the alternative offered, you can ask for a refund -- but otherwise an upgrade can't be expected (sadly.)

You can ask to be re-routed on Air France. If they decline, you can get a refund. Free upgrades are not one of your options.

I think I'd just be happy at this point that they're still even flying to CDG, no matter what the routing.

Hey, what are you complaining about?
At least they told you!!
A summer or 2 ago, I made a reservation from sacto to steamboat springs, via denver. UAL cancelled the den-steamboat leg and never told me. We found out when the curbside baggage handler couldn't tag our bags all the way to steamboat, and had to rent a car and drive from den. After many calls we got a partial refund and some vouchers.
