San Juan Connection Time ?

Hopefully someone here is SJU savvy ...
Arriving on UA at 1:35 pm
Want to Connect to AA "Executive" at 2:40 pm (don't want to wait til the 5 pm flt)
Apparently this involves different terminals and UA won't book a thru flt w/less than 1hr 25min cnx time. With only carry-on, is this schedule do-able? (hypothetically if the inbound flight isn't late).

SJU is a very small airport, with only carry on you should make it to the AA side. It should take you a whole ten minutes to get from one side of the airport to the other after getting off the plane. Good Luck

It will actually take you more than 10 mins - it can be a pretty decent walk, but fortunately, its all behind the same secured area - BE SURE NOT TO LEAVE THE SECURED AREA. You'll need to make a right turn to get over to the American concourse when leaving the one where UA is. The standard minimum connect time in SJU is 1:00 - there are a few exceptions however.

I should have mentioned that I'm connecting to a flight going to St Maarten. That doesn't add any extra special time does it?

Call AA and ask the min connection time - like I said there are exceptions to the general rules (some less than 1:00, others up to 1:30) but they are very airline to airline specific as well as flight # specific.

if UA arrives on time - there is little problem for you, but check-through luggage may be a a different story.

I often had to wait >30 minutes at SJU until my UA luggage arrived at the carrousel.

Most of the St. Marteen flights out of SJU leave on the Eagle depature (lower level) in gates 1A..1B or 1C..These are the last gates in the AA terminal secton...allow as much time as possible. You will be bussed to the plane.
