Travel as a Gift?
Hi Everyone!!!
I've been feverishly planning my parents 30th Anniversary Party and I know the perfect gift for them would be a trip to Paris. Yes I've found some great airfares (from LAX) but I'm hesitant to book them because really all I'm doing is choosing dates out of thin air. I would like to get my parents passes or certificates of sorts where they can make the reservations themselves. They could even be passes to Europe or just for international travel. I know this exists and I've seen passes on ebay but they are usually for business class / first class tickets which is a bit out of my $ range.
I'm open to other great ideas too!
Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I'd appreciate any help!! Thanks!
Cheers and Happy Holidays!

You could perhaps purchase gift certificates for a certain denomination for say a flight on American Airlines, as I did via giftcertificates.com. Once purchased, the certificates can be applied towards any ticket. I would think that the other carriers would offer such certificates, however, I've not tried purchased any other than on AA.

Every airline offers the opportunity to purchase vouchers toward a ticket. I bought my sister a two hundred dollar gift certificate on Delta, I've purchased others from AA. You purchase it for any amount you choose!

If your parents are senior citizens can you still buy those passes on United or American? Something to check into. Another idea is to make hotel reservations at a beautiful place that they would consider a "splurge"--that way you can always change the dates and/or cancel without penalty. The problem with airlines is that at the time of booking another airline may have a better deal. Oh, one further idea is to give a gift certificate for a travel agent?
Good luck!

Thanks Owl.
I was looking into United because of their Silver Wings Plus program. They have reasonable and set fares to Europe. I am interested in the idea of passes for seniors. I too agree that to get a certificate for an airline would be difficult if another airline was offering a better fare!!! I need to do my research this weekend!
Thanks!
