Can anyone proved information about avaiability/cost and time needed to transfer in the morning from SIN to the airport at Johore Baru? Is there a bus service?
Thanks.

Since I am going to be doing the same thing in a couple of months, I did some research, hope this helps:

Buses leave for Johor Bahru from the Queen St. station on the corner of Queen and Arab Sts. Air-con express buses ($S2.40,1 hour) depart every 15 minutes, public SBS bus No.170 costs $S1.10. Buses stop at the Singapore checkpoint, keep your ticket and hop on the next bus as the bus wont wait for you while you clear immigration

I've done this by taxi and it is very easy - since this was about 3 years back I can't remember the exact details but I believe it was less than 45 minutes from airport to airport (this depends on border traffic) and cost me about 30 US$. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I took the bus from JHB (Senai/Sultan Ismail) to SIN June last year (but got off before the causeway). I think it was something like MYR 4 to Johore and MYR 20 to SIN with the bus leaving some 30 minutes after the arrival of an MH flight (I know that doesn't help you).

Yes, Malaysia Airlines runs special Senai shuttles so there is no need to use the public transport options from Queen Street. They may be cheaper but you will still need to get to Senai from the city. Also, MAS times the shuttles according to the flights in and out of JHB so you have better protection as compared to taking public buses. The lines at the Woodlands checkpoint can be pretty bad sometimes.

So this means I need to get to Queens Street from Changi to pick up the Malaysia Airlines bus? I was unclear in my original post. I will be at Changi overnight in the Transi Hotel and want to fly out of JHB around noon.
Thanks

The US MH people are less than helpfull. Can anyone tell me definitely if I can check in at Changi for an MH flight from Johor Bahru. I have an 11:10 AM flight from Johor Bahru to Langkawai. Is there some kind of MH bus transportation from the Changi airport to the Airport in Johor Bahru? ANd how early should I leave for the airport in Johor Bahru?
Thanks
Ed

The MH bus transportation runs from the Copthorne Orchid Hotel in Singapore. The fare is SGD$12 and it brings you direct to Senai airport. The buses are timed to meet all flights leaving from Senai airport. In good traffic conditions, I reckon it will take about 45 minutes by cab to get from the Singapore airport to the Copthorne Orchid Hotel.

Now, I did this about 4 years ago, and I'm not sure if the procedures are still the same. But at that time, it was a one-stop process, where you show up at MH's office in the hotel, where they will do the check in for you right then and there. ie. obtain boarding pass, take your bags, tag it, and send them on their (and your) merry way. You get onto the coach, pass customs and immigration to enter Malaysia and voila, you're at Senai and waiting to board your flight.

For further details,

There is also a link on that page showing the schedules. (ie. which bus to take for what flight). Your best bet would be to ring MH Singapore for reservations and information.

I would also recommend perhaps overnighting at the Copthorne Orchird Hotel itself so you wouldn't need to worry about getting yourself from the airport to the hotel ontime to catch the bus. It's a decent 3 star hotel off the tourist belt, so it shouldn't cost much.

Have fun!

Procedure as described by Pumikin is correct. MH times shuttle for all departing and arriving flight from JB. There is no real coordination with Changi flights since their goal is to assist Singapore residents use the much cheaper internal flights from JB. Anyone can use the service, you just gotta show up at the Orchid (which, BTW, is not located near anything). Coming back, there is a counter at JB for booking the bus.

You will have to carry your luggage through both Singapore and Malaysian customs at the border. No porters or carts, so pack light.
