Fare booking codes
Can anyone tell me where to find a list of fare booking code abbreviations for airlines? E.g., I know that "Y" is unrestricted coach, and "F" is likely to be first class (presumably "B" is business), but is there any place to find the others "decoded"? Either by individual airlines, or in general?

There are lots and lots of codes, each with different restrictions.
'B' isn't business class. It's a coach fare that's slightly more restrictive than Y.
Go to http://www.itn.net , once you've registered you can view all of the fare designations for any flight and the number of seats (up to some limit) available in each fare designation.
For example, Northwest Flight 85 from Detroit to Nartia, Japan on November 30 currently shows "J6 C0 Z0 Y1 B1 M1 Q0 V0 K0 "
J is Business Class
C is another Business Class code.
Z is ?
Y is full fare coach
B, M, Q, etc. are increasingly restrictive (probably progrssively cheaper) coach fares.
Looks like a pretty full flight...

Welcome to FlyerTalk, Littera! Here is a thread listing all UA booking codes:

In general, all Star Alliance partners use the same codes as UA, with some exceptions:
