New Stand-By Rules: where's the outrage?

Am I the only one furious about the new "nonrefundable" ticket rules? the validity-scam and the standby-indecency ie, they are trying to pull here?
I'm just waiting to hear the "it's-all-for-your-safety" line yet again by the big airline players on this one.
It destroys my way of travelling certainly. I'd be curious to hear if I'm really the only one affected by the changes. I'm very surprised this change didn't make more noise.

gruezi (= Hi and welcome in swiss german) to FlyerTalk.

If you go through the UA (and other airline) Forum here on FlyerTalk (last 3 weeks or so), you will find hundreds of post discussing the new no exception policy etc. etc. (and (and sharing your outrage) .

Wait until January when the media gets some real-life sob stories. It'll be interesting to watch airlines become less popular than telemarketers...

Yes Joe Six Pack really does not understand what these changes really mean yet. Hopefully in q1 of 03 there will be some really bad press once people do understand the impact.
