Want to be a top exec? Work overseas...

Expatriate experience boosts résumé, but tread carefully
The candidate who has experience living offshore also has a leg up, Johnson said, adding that such experience "is always on the wish list, and it's difficult to fill."

That's interesting.

I interviewed a mid size company CEO who travels a lot on international business.

She surprised me when she said that learning a new language isn't important in today's world.

But, I think the expat experience could really help when small businesses take their first step into a global market. They would probably want someone who they could relate to easily, but also knows how business is done overseas.
