Sharm-el-Sheikh: Any hints or tips for a first timer?

Has anyone got tips for a first time visitor to Sharm-el-Sheikh? How about restaurants in town? Shopping? Tours one should do? Anything else? Please reply!

Muerz,

Diving and snorkelling is the best/most interesting thing to do, but the camel trek into the desert at evening, followed by dinner under the stars is also quite good (just have to keep saying 'no' to the children trying to sell you things).

Only one restaurant stands out from a visit last year, which was in 'downtown' Na'ama Bay - don't remember the name, but I think that it's the only one on a rooftop - local cuisine, so lots of grilled meat, etc, and extremely good bread, made continuously by a man in the corner. Enjoy.

Has anyone got a nice website about Sharm-el-Sheikh?

@Stewie: Which hotel were you staying at? Was the desert trek organized by the hotel? How about those daytrips to Cairo and its pyramids? How about ATV (quad) trips? What exactly is local cuisine?

If you can arrange for a meal with some local bedouins it is a wonderful experience.
