More dangers of "Cattle Class" (literally)

From the Dave Barry desk calendar for Tuesday, October 31st:

Last year, readers sent me articles from publications concerning an incident in the Sea of Japan wherein a Japanese fishing boat was sunk by a falling cow. Yes. According to these articles what happened was that the crew of a Russian military cargo jet had stolen cows in Siberia and were flying them home when the cows became upset, perhaps, because there was no in-flight movie.
The cows stampeded, and the crew, fearing the plane would crash, opened the cargo door and let the cows run out of the plane at an altitude of 30,000 feet. So you had these cows raining down on the Sea of Japan, and one of them, unfortunately, failed to land on George Steinbrenner.

Holy Cow!

"failed to land on George Steinbrenner" or "landed on George Steinbrenner" and who is George Steinbrenner anyway. Is he the guy took took Babe the "seeing eye pig" onto the USAir flight in First last week with him?

Sounds more like an April Fools column.

George is the person we New Yorkers love to hate. But he's mellowed over the years.

I don't know if you are pulling our legs OZ, but the Yankees are a baseball team that just last week won the World Series yet again.

This is the 4th time in 5 years, quite an accomplishment!

NWA Won't Allow Pig in Cabin

Pigs can't fly, after all -- at least not in the passenger cabin.

NWA is backing away from an earlier decision to grant a Vietnamese potbellied pig flying rights equal to those of small dogs and cats.
