Help with Mumbai hotels

Some time ago there was a discussion about hotels in Mumbai and an FTer who lives there posted some comments about the Taj and other hotels. I have tried to find this discussion using the search feature and have been unsuccessful. I would be grateful for any information on the thread or any other information on hotels in Mumbai. In advance, thank you for your assistance.

In Mumbai, most hotels are concentrated around the Southern tip of the city - Fort/Colaba area, or near the Airport & by the Juhu Beach.

My last stay was in Feb '02 in the newly opened ITC Grand Maratha Sheraton, not yet completed. It is near the Airport. There is also Holiday-Inn,Marriott (recently opened) and plans of having a Hyatt soon too. Taj and Oberoi are Indian upscale chains so is the ITC Welcome Group.

Taj is a long ride from the Airport -- Since most flights from US/Europe arrive around midnight, it's around 1:30-2:00 AM by the time you are done.
