Chicago - Tokyo in June

I'm going to Japan for two weeks at the beginning of June. Right now American wants $1100 for the ticket. The flight is more or less completely empty. Anyone know from experience if they will come down on this at some point between now and June?

The discount fares for June are probably not loaded in the system yet. This usually happens about 2 months in advance.

However since the soccer World Cup starts in Japan on June 1st, and lasts for a full month, I fear this year's June prices for flights to Japan won't be cheap.

Perhaps playing in your favor is the fact the US team starts off in Korea, and is not considered a favorite to make it to the ensuing rounds, some of which will be in Japan.

Yes,

The World Cup in Japan in June means it'll be a bit manice over there !!

I'll be a part of that mania, so if you'd like to meet up, we'll probably be arranging a Flyertalkers meeting there in early June (2nd week).

Good Luck !
