courier flights

Hi, for those who don't know me, I am a freelance writer for the NYTimes Travel section (I've posted here before). This time I'm writing about courier flights. Anyone have a story/stories?

Can you really take advantage of these types of flights?

I saw it on the Simpsons once but....

Being a cheapskate who wanted to fly at mach 2 nonetheless, I couriered aboard Concorde in 1989 but I don't know if you want any anecdotes that old. (And I don't think Concorde courier opportunities exist anymore, anyway.)

I too flown the Concorde as a courrier during the 80's. The flights were on BA for a cost of $750 round trip. Additionally, I accumalated UA frequent flier miles for my trips (UA & BA were partners back then). Because I would fly the route on a regular basis when I lived on LI, the company would call me occasionally and give me free Concorde flights as a courrier if someone did not buy a ticket for a particular trip. Back then there were two flights daily from JFK and one from Dulles daily.
