"Security" at Logan and Seatac
Sorry, for this repeat post - I accidentally put it in the women's section, when I meant it for all:
Just completed a trip to Boston. Going through the security line at Seatac, my boyfriend and I accidentally switched tickets. The name on the ticket obviously didn't match the name on the identification presented to the security woman in line, yet got through with no problem. On our return trip from Logan we decided to experiment and see if we could get through again with a ticket that didn't match our ID's. We even went in separate lines to ensure the screener didn't just assume we were together. We both got through again! But, not to worry because even though they let me through with someone else's ticket, they did confiscate the very dangerous, lethal weapon I was carrying in my make-up bag: my eye liner sharpener!

As far as I know, the check before security is only to determine if the person has business to be airside (i.e., has a travel itinerary, ticket or BP). I.D. checks are only compulsory when checking in and when boarding the aircraft.

I just completed a check at SFO to LAS. SFO checked my ID 4 times, while as LAS, only twice. Security did not check my id at all with my boarding pass. However, the guy in front of me only had an itenarary(sp) and they did check his ID.

Where have you flown in the last three months that they're not checking your ID when you go through security?
