Renaming of SJC?

I was watching the news one night as they were showing parts of the inauguration of a new airport runway at SJC on TV (Runway 30 Right). One of the "officials" made the announcement that there was some kind of proposal to rename San Jose Intl Airport to "Gary Condit Intl Airport".

Ok seriously now, the airport is supposedly to be named after the current Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta. Does anyone here know if this will fly? Mineta used to be Mayor of San Jose, and I guess he is also great friends with the current Mayor right now. I haven't heard anymore about this idea.

Erik.

I guess it helps to search for this topic in other forums.

Check my updated posts in "FlyerTalk Airports" under the SFO, OAK and SJC header, there is detailed info in there. Hope it helps.
