CNS for 4 hours!
Kwaj boy and I have a 4-hr layover at CNS this December (arriving via QF at 830pm, departing via CO at 100am)...any ideas as to how we can occupy our time as there is no PC at CNS? We are traveling J-class AKL-SYD-BNE-CNS that day, so I don't know if the QF club will allow us in since technically we arrive CNS via a domestic flight. HELP!!

The waterfront area of Cairns, which has a night time marketplace and pubs that will be quite lively into the night, is an easy shuttle bus or cab ride from the airport (maybe all of 10 minutes). I'd head into the city myself rather than spending the time at the airport. You can get back there pretty quick for your flight. There's a nice Irish pub on the pier that overlooks the water, that has live music, adjoining the Radisson Hotel. You could easily stay occupied just walking around that area.

A cab from the airport to the downtown waterfront area will be less than AU$10 (and what a wonderful exchange rate they have for Americans like me!).
CNS has become *sooooo* touristy. Much of the food is pretty down market. Spend time by the water -- it _is_ beautiful -- but at some point in your life schedule more time in North Queensland and get OUT of CNS.
About an hour away is Port Douglas. Perfect place to stay!
Rent a 4x4 and head up to the Daintree rainforest... then up to Cape Tribulation. There's nothing like it in the world.

CNS is also the perfect jumping off point for Lizard Island in the Great Barrier Reef!!! Awesome!
