Flying on Empty on Air Canada
On June 20, party of two on Air Canada 3694 from Calgary to Ottawa:
preboard at 3:30 local time
arrive Ottawa 11:05 (on time) local time
There was a brief stopover at Winnipeg.
On the first leg, from Calgary to Winnipeg, we got one bag of chips and a glass of pop each(bar service optional).
From Winnipeg to Ottawa, no meal but five bags of chips and three bags of pretzels (shared) plus a can of pop each (bar service optional).
There were about a dozen pax who boarded at Calgary who flew all the way to Ottawa, including one individual who was a diabetic.
Note the flight was at mealtime.
AC says there was a breakdown in communications between the caterer and airline. They also said they would contact pax on the flight. This has not happened.
The Flight Attendents, including Charge of Cabin, said that AC changed its inflight meal policy on June 19th and inflight meals were removed from 3694.
On June 26th, on AC 3953, Toronto to Edmonton, we were served uncooked (yes raw) chicken. (The alternative, which I wish we had chosen, was a pasta dish). No one on 3953 who chose the chicken ate it.
AC does not need to start a low-fare airline, they are already a "peanut" carrier.
